The position serves as the Audio Visual Maintenance Specialist in the Preservation Services Section within Researcher and Collections Services at the Library of Congress (LOC at the Packard Campus in Culpeper, Virginia). The position is located at the National Audiovisual Conservation Center and reports to the Audio Laboratory Supervisor. The incumbent is responsible for maintaining the equipment used for the processing, preservation and duplication of magnetic tape, disc, wire, cylinder recordings; and associated support equipment for the sound preservation laboratory, including a broad array of obsolete equipment that has not been manufactured for decades but is still essential to preservation production.
