The Role:

Reporting to the CPO, the UK Head of People role involves providing leadership to the People team. This involves the delivery of HR initiatives across the region, and for overseeing the implementation of best practice for the HR department. We are based in High Wycombe and offer Hybrid working to all the team. We anticipate this role to be office based in High Wycombe for 2-3 days per week.

The job holder will also be leading a function which is essential to achieving the next stage in the company’s strategic People plans. In particular playing a leading role to ensure the company meets its objective of being a “Great place to work”.

Essential Functions and Major Responsibilities:

Talent acquisition

The role drives the talent strategy, ensuring the business attracts, engages, and retains the right talent for success. Ensure the right processes are in place to support managers through the talent acquisition cycle. Management of the annual headcount plan.
Work with the Talent Acquisition Manager to develop talent programmes such as Placement scheme / work experience / apprentice etc to drive attraction methods and enable future talent pools.
Careers learning & development and performance

Develop and implement initiatives to ensure we have the right mechanisms in place to create opportunities for our people to learn and grown.
Own the performance review cycle (My Focus) providing insight and guidance on how to have the most effective performance discussions.
Technology and systems

Maintain appropriate systems for monitoring, measuring, and reporting HR activities within agreed formats and timescales.
Compliance, policies, and procedures

Maintain a full suite of employee policies and act as the go-to expert for any HR questions or issues.
Own all company employment contracts and agreements, ensuring these are regularly updated.
Renumeration and Employee Benefits

Develop and maintain our approach to benchmarking and keeping the business informed of where we are compared to market rates – offering guidance and support on any areas of risk. Prepare data and support in the annual salary review cycle.
Employee relations and engagement

Gather and respond to employee feedback on a regular basis. Support and enable a culture of continuous feedback and improvement.
Accountable for the annual and half yearly engagement survey, planning, comms, working with Hive, reporting, presenting results and developing actions and next steps.
Culture, values, diversity & inclusion

Create a culture where people are valued, and their contribution is recognised and rewarded. Ensure the right culture behaviours, initiatives and policies are in place to support the needs of our people including health and wellbeing, charity, D&I.
Plan and schedule all cultural events across the year including mental health awareness week, D&I week, and other days we have chosen to recognise.
Supervisory Responsibilities:

Managing the HR team of 3 across our various business units in the UK. Ensuring all team members have goals and objectives aligned to the People strategy.
Leading and directing the team in operationalising HR plans, initiatives and delivering on the strategy.
Communications:

Own all people comms related to UK HR topics and business change. Ensure we have a robust and easy to use internal communication portal for all things people related. Support CEO/CPO with people related comms drafting when required.
Skills and experience required:

A minimum of 5 years of HR experience working in a senior generalist role
Degree level education and/or equivalent CIPD qualifications
Excellent communication skills to effectively communicate strategic decisions to the management teams and our people
Strong active listening skills, as well as the ability to communicate well both verbally and in writing with people of all skill levels and abilities.
Strong leadership qualities
High emotional intelligence with an ability to build strong, trusting relationships with all stakeholders
Good at planning and organising
