The Service and Test engineer’s role is to assess, repair and test audio equipment as a key member of the PMC service department, alongside providing technical support to the manufacturing operation. This position will involve conducting a variety of electronics and loudspeaker repair and calibration tasks, experiencing many areas of the business and offers an opportunity to apply your knowledge, find solutions and develop your engineering skills.
Responsibilities
- Repair and test customer equipment efficiently
- Ensure production facility is technically operational and working effectively
- Resolve technical issues effectively and quickly
Service and Test engineer job specific tasks
- Fault finding and / or repair of audio electronics and loudspeakers
- Programming and testing DSP electronics
- Safety testing of various electrical equipment (i.e. PAT testing)
- Servicing test equipment
- Customer liaison regarding products under repair
- Conduct production line final testing & component/parts QC testing
- Offer technical advice to production assembly team regarding test and fault finding.
- Monitor tolerance of all components, feeding back key findings to production engineering manager
- Maintain production test equipment.
- Advise and apply new test procedures.
- Implement training of test procedures to production staff periodically.
- Resolve Production technical issues swiftly
Requirements:
- Further education in Electronics, Electrical Engineering or similar
Experience within a relevant work environment - Knowledge & experience of audio electronics design & repair
- Pre amplifier (analogue & digital)
- Power amplifier (analogue & digital)
- Control electronics
- Source electronics
- passive crossovers
- Experience using audio test equipment such as clio, Klippel, lindos,s oscilloscope etc
- Excellent hearing plus experience in subjective listening testing
- Knowledge of computer aided design & simulation softwares
- Computer literate in standard Microsoft software as well as ability to learn company database systems
- Ability to write concise reports
- There will be travel to various PMC sites expected weekly, as well as occasionally to clients and as such a driving license and access to a car for transport will be required
- The job is located 5 days a week at our headquarters in Biggleswade, UK
