The Position:
PMC are looking for a service engineer whose responsibilities will involve all tasks involved in the customer service process – from initial customer contact, conducting a variety of electronics and loudspeaker repair and calibration tasks, through to generating invoices as required. The service engineer handles the majority of service jobs, and as the team expands will be focused on the technically challenging repair activities and service calls, managing handover of basic activities to junior staff. They will need to provide guidance to the entire team with their technical knowledge, as well as lead training of new tech recruitments
The Role in Detail:
- Fault finding and / or repair of audio electronics.
- Pre amplifier (analogue & digital)
- Power amplifier (analogue & digital)
- Control electronics
- Source electronics
- passive crossovers
- Fault finding and / or repair of loudspeakers
- Programming or PMC modifications & testing of active electronics
- Drive unit QC testing
- Safety testing of various electrical equipment (i.e. PAT testing)
- Servicing test equipment
- Occasional customer liaison
- Occasional speaker system setup & calibration
Service engineer Job Specific tasks:
- Produce technical reports to feedback information such as product improvements as well as reliability data to design team
Desirable Candidate Attributes:
The Service engineer post holder is desired to have:
- Electrical Engineering qualifications HND or degree level
- Knowledge & experience of audio electronics design & repair
- Experience using audio test equipment such as clio, Klippel, lindos,s oscilloscope etc
- Knowledge of computer aided design & simulation softwares
- Computer literate in standard Microsoft software as well as ability to learn company database systems
- Ability to write concise reports

- Knowledge of hifi/music/recording and broadcast techniques or personal interest in these areas.
