Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute seeks candidates for Sr. Media Engineer in the School of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences (HASS) to design, install, operate, maintain and repair all audio/visual equipment and facilities in HASS. The incumbent plans, sets up, and handles the production and post-production of a wide variety of events that support the artistic, research, and curricular mission of HASS. The position provides advanced technical expertise to faculty, staff & students in use of audio, visual, lighting, and networked technologies and systems.
Candidates will have an Associate’s Degree in Electrical, Computer, or Media Engineering; Communications, Computer Science or related Arts Technology field and six (6) years of relevant professional work experience in audio, video, theatre technology, graphics, and/or audio engineering, production, or related field. Relevant combinations of education, training, and professional work experience will be considered.
Though not required, professional certification(s) in any of the following are helpful: ICIA (International Communications Industries Association), CTS (Certified Technology Specialist), SBE (Society of Broadcast Engineers), CTSI (Certified Technology Specialist – Installation) and/or CTSD (Certified Technology Specialist – Design) or other relevant certification.
