[TOKYO, JAPAN – May 23, 2024] – The monumental 2024 AES 6th International Conference on Audio for Games, held from April 27-29 in Tokyo, Japan, showcased the rapid evolution and cutting-edge innovations in game audio.
This year’s conference delved into the rich history of interactive sound expression in gaming, from its humble beginnings with simple beeps to the sophisticated, immersive audio experiences we know today. With over 47 sessions, the conference provided a comprehensive platform for exploring the past, present, and future of game audio technology.
The event’s 157 attendees participated in Paper presentations, Workshops, and listening demos spread across three tracks. The venue buzzed with activity, thanks to six demo rooms and numerous networking opportunities. The presence of 19 sponsors added to the vibrant atmosphere, as participants interacted with industry leaders and explored the latest advancements in game audio.
Aili Niimura, a technical audio designer at Microsoft, spoke for many attendees with her comments about her positive experience. “Thank you to all the organizers for putting together such a great gathering!” she said. “I had a fantastic time at the events. Everything went very smoothly with no delays or problems. Tech support was superb, and the venue was well-suited. All the tracks were interesting and relevant.”
“Upon returning,” Nimura continues, “I’ve been able to reference many of the conference papers. It was a perfect size for a meeting and for truly getting to know many of the attendees, and I felt that I was really able to expand my network and ways of thinking. From the banquet to the lunchtime arrangements, the flow of the events lend themselves to quality time and conversation.”
