The sweet spot can be interpreted as the region where known acoustic sources create a Spatial Auditory Illusion (SAI). Spatial audio methods aim to create a SAI over a region using an arrangement of a few loudspeakers. The authors recently proposed the Sparse Weighted Error Iteration (SWEET) method, which leverages perceptual principles and models to create a SAI over a large region of interest by maximizing the weighted area of the sweet spot. In this work, we study the problem of maximizing the sweet spot in a room with reverberation using the SWEET method. We model reverberation using the image method. Proof-of-concept experiments show that in general SWEET outperforms a standard pressure matching method when compared in terms of their localization and coloration properties in a reverberating room.
