Microsoft was founded in 1975. Our mission is to enable people and businesses throughout the world to realize their full potential by creating technology that transforms the way people work, play, and communicate. We develop and market software, services, and hardware devices that deliver new opportunities, greater convenience, and enhanced value to people’s lives. We do business worldwide and have offices in more than 100 countries.
Microsoft develops hardware devices for consumer and commercial applications which include audio media, voice communications and speech applications. An example is the Surface line of laptops and the Hololens augmented reality headphone. Microsoft has an extensive community of R&D audio engineers, including MSR Research, Hardware acoustics designers, DSP audio algorithm developers, noise and vibration engineers and general audio engineers, who develop audio subsystems for our products. Several of us attend regularly the local AES PNW chapter. We will benefit from being involved more closely with the Audio Engineering Society. We expect this engagement will raise the profile of Microsoft as a place of employment that future audio engineers will aspire to – and we also give back to AES in the form of more engagement, AES journal papers, chapter meeting presentations and the like.
