Chair: Andrés Mayo
Andrés Mayo, former President of the AES (Audio Engineering Society), is an audio engineer and music producer who has pioneered the art of mastering since 1992. He boasts credits in more than 3,000 albums released in all formats, from vinyl through BluRay. Andres co-chaired the first AES Conference on Audio for Virtual and Augmented Reality (AVAR), held in Los Angeles in 2016, and since then he has been working tirelessly (together with fellow engineer Martin Muscatello) in the development of techniques and workflows for immersive music production.
Andres Mayo Immersive Audio boasts a Dolby Atmos – Neumann room and caters for all sorts of deliverables, from 360° podcasts and commercial ads through documentaries and music productions.
Member of the P&E Wing Advisory Council at NARAS, Andres is a 2-time GRAMMY and 7-time Gardel Award winner. -
Alistair HirstDolby
Alistair Hirst has shipped over 44 games across 11 platforms and multiple console generations, mostly as an Audio Director. He launched the Need for Speed franchise as Audio Director during his 10 years at Electronic Arts. He co-founded OMNI Audio, a game audio company which worked on four campaigns of Guild Wars and Halo 2 among many others. He was Audio Director at Amazon Game Studios for 6 years before joining Dolby Laboratories.

Robert RidihalghMicrosoft Xbox
A 33-year veteran of the games industry, Robert is an audio programmer, sound designer, composer, and voice recording specialist. His work has shipped in hundreds of titles on multiple platforms from the Super Nintendo in the early 90’s to today’s latest consoles. Robert has been with Microsoft since 2012 and is currently Principal Audio Specialist for Microsoft’s Advanced Technology Group.

Damian KastbauerAudiokinetic Wwise
Damian Kastbauer is a renowned sound designer and game audio expert. He is Software Product Manager at Audiokinetic, helping to grow its middleware Wwise within the interactive audio community.

Event Description
The landscape around Spatial aspects of immersive audio in games is changing and evolving as we speak. For this discussion, AES brings together 3 panelists with different areas of expertise: soundtrack production for games, integration with Xbox & PC and integration with the widely used audio middleware Wwise. The Immersive Audio Academy is a place where open discussion is encouraged, both between the panelists and with the audience. This panel will be no exception, with so many things to discuss in immersive audio for games!
