Implementation of a higher-order statistics (HOS) based analysis method for inverse filtering and estimation of voice production function of esophageal speech is investigated. An extended LF-model of esophageal voice production that complies with the proposed HOS-based analysis method is introduced. The model`s use can be possibly extended to other pathological voice production mechanisms. Aspects of the proposed method are examined, and a comparative study with other conventional methods is performed. Some first results on original esophageal voice samples are also presented.
