Here is presented a set of signal processing methods, which aim at providing a low-level description of the room effect related to a recorded audio scene, in order to derive a perceptual characterization of its spatial features. The goal is to perform this analysis blindly, that is without any other information than the recording itself. Considering the respective nature of the early and the late contributions of the room effect, two distinct tools, acting on a monophonic signal, are proposed to estimate the relevant information of each contribution. Then, the estimations of the early parts of the responses are simultaneously processed by a coincidence detector, in order to derive the binaural cues of the sound scene.
