Simulation of Complex Sound Fields in Enclosures and Open-Air-Theatres

Starting fro the room-acoustical configuration of enclosures and open-air theaters, the basic laws assuring good conditions of audibility are outlined briefly. From this there are derived the new requirements for a modern sound reinforcement technology that must be adapted to the different utilization variants of the performance rooms. There are exposed the diverse methods for simulation of the direct sound, of the initial reflections influencing the direct sound and the reverberant sound, and of the reverberation. Then follows a survey classifying and comparing the possible realization variants. Finally there are given examples illustrating the subjects put forward.
