Given the accurately measured (complex) electric drive signal to acoustic pressure output transfer functions of the drivers to be used, the design of a crossover network, to achieve any realizable response, is a routine problem in network synthesis. However, this direct approach is often precluded by the difficulties associated with the accurate measurement of acoustic phase. Several ways to avoid the need for this measurement are examined and a new design algorithm is proposed and evaluated.
