Modeling the Intelligibility of a Central Loudspeaker Cluster in a Reverberant Area

The ratio between the direct and the reverberant sound intensity in a reverberant hall correlates well with speech intelligibility. It can be calculated from the polar patterns of the loudspeakers and the reverberant times of the room in different frequency bands. Thus the loudspeaker mounting and power can be optimized for the best intelligibility in many of the listening positions.
