A properly windowed tone burst is used to evaluate the dynamic behavior of a loudspeaker within narrow frequency bands. The anechoic room responses on and off axis are Fourier transformed to obtain the spectrum of the generated signals. The resulting visual presentation of time and frequency information is found to be correlated to subjective quality perceived in listening rooms.
