Radio frequency broadcasting systems have become an important necessity for the hearing impaired throughout the world. The goal is to bring these individuals on a more equal basis with normal hearing individuals with respect to speech and language training general and higher education, social gatherings in churches, theaters and auditoriums; thus, striving towards 100% integration in the hearing society. AM and FM systems developed and used today cover partly fixed installations to 100% portable units, even including built-in audiological hearing aid amplifiers. Various organizations for the hearing impaired, manufacturers, professional audiologists and teachers for the deaf have in the last decade succeeded in getting special selected radio frequency bands - mainly allocated in the VHF band - allocated for the hearing impaired throughout the world. Since the VHF band is the most common, this paper will mainly cover FM systems developed for this band and used by the hearing impaired. FM systems developed reach from partly fixed installations to fully portable.
