Controlled imaging practices rely on the perception of direct signals from an area amid the two speakers. This is obtained by applying a mono mix of reverberation-free program material to both the left and right speakers. Signals to be placed in proper dimension are panned and processed with reverberation. These signals form images which are located via the relation of direct-to-reverberated signals. Localization occurs at various points amid the speakers with less reliance on listening position.
