Two methods are given for the design of distributed sound systems for rooms whose floor and ceiling are not parallel. It is first shown that the SPL contours on a plane inclined from the plane normal to a loudspeaker axis can be approximated by concentric circles displaced up the plane. This is used as the basis for the development of a design method giving approximately the same loudspeaker density (per coverage circle area) in the listening plane and hence an approximately constant uniformity of coverage. A second method is examined for which the density (per unit area) is constant at the ceiling. Both methods can be extended to cases of non-planar floors and ceilings.
