Instruction in Critical Listening

The ability of an experienced audio professional (e.g., a sound mixer) to detect minute deviations from accepted norms of audio quality is attained through a multitude of random listening experiences over many years. A programmed audio course of study has been devised which subjects the novice trainee to carefully ordered series of similar listening experiences. This course is intended to accelerate the learning process but never to deprecate the importance of actual listening experiences on the job. The close relationship between audio faults and audio technology is recognized by parallel instruction in audio concepts.
