At present, the majority of phonograph cartridges still fall into two main classes: displacement-responsive (piezoelectric-ceramic and crystal) and velocity-responsive (magnetic types). Terminating amplifiers are using more and more transistorized circuitry, and the electrical loading networks are of importance in this application as well as tubes. The electrical network parameters are therefore reviewed from the theoretical as well as the experimental aspect.
