A teleconferencing application of Directional Audio Coding (DirAC) is presented. DirAC is a method for spatial sound recording and reproduction with arbitrary number of loudspeakers or with headphones. In telecommunication it can be used to deliver spatial sound by transmitting directional data as a side band to monophonic audio with low bit rate. In this work a C programming language implementation of DirAC for teleconference applications has been developed. Also, a low-cost B-format microphone array composed of miniature microphones for spatial sound capturing for DirAC encoding is presented and compared with Soundfield ST350 microphone.
