A highly refined lamp-photocell automatic level control device is described which has fast attack time, instantaneous transient release and low distortion. The device is based on a compressor/limiter circuit which provides the advantages of conventional lamp-photocell operation but has been modified to eliminate the concomitant disadvantages.
