This paper considers the effect of power supply regulation on the music power/continuous power ratio, transistor and overall system economics, and the subjective ability of a Class B amplifier to reproduce program material. In addition, attention is focused on the presently used music power rating. A rating is proposed which better defines the ability of an amplifier to reproduce program material.
