Definitions and Measurements of Fidelity and Fidelity Index of Electroacoustical Components and Electroacoustical Chains

A term of intelligibility index is introduced as an analogon to the articulation index for speech communication. The definition of the fidelity index is shown to be of physical, psychoacoustical and of information theoretical significance. Methods to determine and evaluate the fidelity index are shown as well as the fidelity index of a few common electroacoustical components and chains.
