The Education and Tribulations of a Precursory Disc Recording Engineer

This paper relates how fate, inquisitiveness, and coincidence combined to train the writer as a pioneer electrical sound recording engineer. Early efforts to design and operate audio recording equipment will be mentioned. Portable recording equipment made it possible for the author to record in many remote locations for the first time. Recording adventures in the orient will be emphasized with slides.
