An interdisciplinary experiment of the Department of Electrical Engineering and the School of Music of Ohio University has resulted in a simplified music synthesizer fabricated by music students with no previous electronic engineering background. The device features analog modification, modulation, variable harmonic content, envelope generation, and filtering. The apparatus has some potential for electronic music laboratory studies in programs designed to expose the student to techniques without the use of expensive studio hardware.
