The design criteria for a fully polyphonic synthesizer system using expandable voltage-controlled processing modules are presented. The merits and unique compositional qualities of a "synthesizer for every key" type of system are discussed, as well as the economic feasibility and reliability considerations. The hybrid and monolithic circuit techniques of the processing modules and the system organization of the multiphonic control bus are also explained.
