OSHA and similar approved ear defenders are converted to either one- or two-way communicators, without breaking through the defender structure. Driving the defender at selected external points by means of inertial transducers or by direct audio induction through the cup using a split transformer to energize an internal transducer produces acceptable and intelligible response within the defender. Demonstrations will be made.
