Reverberant Field Energizer and Electronic Forestage Canopy System

This paper describes the design and application of an Electronic Forestage Canopy System with processing in such a way that sound is emitted from the loudspeakers with necessary time delay and frequency content to produce early first reflections required for as sensation of acoustical intimacy. A Reverberant Field Energizer is mounted in the upper reverberant area of the Theatre, properly timed and processed at the critical level to provide acoustical warmth. Together these systems provide an acoustical envelope and satisfies the basic criteria for good concert hall design, a goal which previously was achievable with more expansive architectural manipulation.
