The Performance of Pickups at Low Frequencies and Isolation from External Shock

The tracking of pickups at very low frequencies is discussed and the advantage of light integrated head and arm design is demonstrated. Measurements were made of the accelerations received by turntables, placed on typical furniture, when subjected to slight accidental handling knocks, and accelerations received from footsteps on suspended wooden floors. To cope with these hazards, an isolating system is required. Tests show that the liquid filled sphere suspension described previously fulfills these requirements.
