100 DB Dynamic Range Disc Recording

An experimental disc recording using 3 dB/dB compression plus preemphasis demonstrates a 24-dB improvement in dynamic range and reduced distortion when played back through a complementary processor. This paper discusses the factors affecting the record-play accuracy of such a system.
