A method of analyzing the quadraphonic sound field is developed. In this method, the relation between the phase differences and the amplitude ratios at the ears due to a real sound source and a phantom sound source made by loudspeakers is analyzed. This method is useful for analyzing the quadraphonic sound field reproducing systems, and furthermore, is applied to obtain `natural` sound localization in any direction.
