The design of a tone arm can affect tracking behavior for record warps and low-frequency audio signals. Using an equivalent circuit model, one can compute the tracking forces required for warps and low audio frequencies as a function of tone-arm and stylus parameters. The effect of reduced tone-arm mass with existing pickups and the design possibilities for new cartridges are discussed in detail.
