Many communities are subjected to varying noise levels so that statistical methods must be used to adequately describe community noise. The concept of amplitude distribution as an analysis method is discussed. Subjects include determination of L/L/L/L noise pollution level, traffic noise index, and an instrument to collect statistical noise data. Also discussed is the use of this instrument for OSHA mixed exposure level and noise control work.
