Present 8-track tape cartridges have a major flaw-they cannot be reversed-to edit, or hear program material again. This paper describes the design of a Reversible 8-track cartridge, which has been tooled and will be distributed this summer. Emphasis is placed on the design details of the molded spring system and its relationship to the tape tension.
