A New Way in Sound Synthesis

So called -computer music- was always fraught with problems from which the formation and preparation of data became extremely difficult. Thus connections between music and digital electronics, primarily, are found in (digital) sequencers, to form hybrid systems together with (analog) music synthesizers. These digitally structured units are concerned mainly with storage capacity, yet even if they are called -computers- no arithmetic unit is included. Even though there is currently no computer-generated sound, the particular advantages of digital electronics (as high precision and high efficiency) were utilized by the use of digitally structured and digitally controlled synthesizer modules (especially oscillators) and new types of digital sequencers which you might call a kind of `intelligent terminal.` Actually, the conditions of activity and operation are still the same as on the conventional (i.e., analog) music synthesizer. We now have developed a real computer music synthesizer as the prototype of a new generation of synthesizers, innovating the principles of operation and functional conditions in sound synthesis and setting renewed aspects to computer music.
