The principles and acoustical applications of cross-correlation and cross-spectral sensity measurements are discussed. The design, operation and performance of the author`s analog cross-correlator will be presented. The unit is extremely flexible, permitting real and imaginary cross correlation and cross spectral density measurements of very high accuracy. Unlike other analog correlators, the unit measures the individual input signal levels and normalizes the correlation output. These levels (in both volts and dB) and the interchannel level differences are also available as outputs.
