On the Vibrational Analysis of Dome-Type Loudspeakers by the Finite Element Method

This paper firstly describes the accuracy of the finite element method, when it is applied to the vibrational analysis of a spherical shell or a conical frustum shell. Then, an analysis of the sound-pressure frequency response for a dome-type loudspeaker follows. A comparison is made of the measured frequency response and the one obtained by use of the finite element method. Particular emphasis is placed on the asymmetric vibrations in higher frequency range, and an improvement of the dome-type loudspeaker is discussed.
