Modern Audio Systems for Open Air Stadiums

The design of public address systems for stadiums has changed considerably in the last twenty years. New environmental conditions, other human expectations, and changes in architecture asked for new considerations in audio engineering. The former centralized sonorization system is no more realistic. Priority is given to a decentralized system with higher sound level, lower environmental pollution, and better frequency response. Based on typical sport stadiums, what is shown is how the architecture mainly influences the way of realization and with which type of loudspeakers best acoustic and economic results can be obtained.
