For almost 100 years record industry was lacking means to check the quality of record stampers and matrices, which are metal negatives of a record. Quality control of plated parts was restricted to visual inspection. Only metal mothers could be played and repaired. This paper describes functions of a new special double-tipped stylus which has been developed to ride the hills of stampers and matrices while checking quality of plating and cutting.
