Design of an Electro-Acoustic Transducer Using Piezoelectric Polymer Film

The application of piezoelectric polymers for electro-acoustic transducers has recently attracted interest because piezoelectric polymers are flexible and easy to make as thin film. We applied piezoelectric polymers to the diaphragm of a microphone. The diaphragm consisted of cylindrically curved piezoelectric polymer film. In this paper we describe the structure of the microphone, how it functions, and the practical design formulas used. In addition, theoretical formulas of the microphone were confirmed by experiments.
