Utilization of a New Time Gated Spectrum Analyzer to Measure Sound System Effectiveness

It is generally recognized that sound system intelligibility is dependent upon the ratio of early to reverberant sound. This paper presents a technique for measuring the frequency response and amplitude of the early sound coverage as well as the frequency response and the amplitude of the reverberant field. From these measurements the articulation loss of consonants can be calculated and the true soud system performance can be evaluated.
