Innovations embodied in the design of a sound system for a large professional football stadium included automatic control of announcement volume responding to spectator noise level including changes during announcements, a system for peak clipping with distortion products suppressed, and automatic replacement of a defective power amplifier. A procedure for analyzing the distribution of announcement levels thruout the seating areas is detailed.
