Consideration of the technical aspects can guarantee the electronic performances of a mixing desk: distortion, frequency response, system noise, etc. Operational qualities and human engineering are also equally important. The author will give many suggestions about the general layout and about mixing, calibrating, control and automatic switching facilities in multitrack techniques. Program and reverberation circuits, monitoring systems, foldback and talkback networks will be involved.
