Traditional quality control procedures in tape duplicating facilities rely primarily upon the subjective analysis of a few "trained ears" and the assumption that a random sampling of product will reflect overall quality. A new system now exists that automatically decodes a test signal and prints out a complete list of performance specifications for each signal channel recorded on each pancake. The speed of the system allows for 100% checking and complete independence from operator interpretation.
