Some of the requirements for a frequency-modulation satellite broadcast network with respect to audio-signal fidelity and signal-to-noise ratio are discussed. A compander highly suited to the application is presented and a computer program is derived to analyze the effects caused by the selection of off-the-shelf component values. The computer program is very general and can be applied to any form of linear-decibel compander, although the program is specifically designed to analyze the frequency-response performance (at several points in the compander system) of single-band companders.
