The representation of thin complex acoustical components, such as porous compliant membranes and segmented membranes, with electrical equivalent circuits is described. An equivalent circuit is presented for coupled systems with two masses. The measuring technique for general acoustical two-ports is outlined. They are treated in the electrical analogy of voltage for pressure and current for home velocity. The measured impedances of porous, segmented, and soft membranes are presented and the first two compared with calculated results. The electroacoustical equivalent circuit for dynamic headphones is modified using the model to take into account the acoustical effect of the air gap of the transducer.
