Progress Towards a System of Synchronisation in Digital Audio

This paper describes the proposals under discussion in the AES Digital Technical Committee aimed at establishing practical and economic methods for synchronizing digital audio signals in the studio environment. The basic requirements are explained and the background reasoning, which relates both to operational aspects and to equipment standards, is given.
