The first method uses a capillary tube as a source of excitation and a microphone as receptor. In the second method the excitation part is an electrostatic microphone used as a source. Experimental results and theoretical calculations will be compared for several acoustic transmission line systems. Respective preference range and advantages of both systems will be discussed and several examples of applications to musical instruments and control of acoustic resistance and acoustic materials will be given.
