Digital Control of the Room Acoustic Quality

This paper describes an electroacoustic system, computer controlled, which permits to vary the acoustic quality in a room. The variability is achieved by simulating the reverberation process and by diffusing it with loudspeakers. The system, electroacoustic and signal processing devices, is commanded by a set of parameters. A room acoustic quality is described by measurable and predictable acoustic criteria. The relation between the acoustic criteria and the command parameters is described here. It represents the heart of the control programs.
